Many popular browsers and software unfortunately do not issue patches regularly to update the computer, and hence it is safer to use software which is updated as and when viruses are sighted, not as per the whims of software providing company. Many of us get PDF files and if we get one from a stranger or a known id, better to open it with a low end Reader than the popular ones.

The autorun facilities provided in the computers is a big security risk. It is a quicksand which can drag you into vulnerability of your Computer.
